Pitch

Dark labyrinth a horror based anthology series telling different short stories each time based on a variety of different sources from the world of horror. The series can pay homage to different beats with the horror genre but can be tailored to suit different age groups starting from 12A (In the U.K.) upwards to allow for a larger audience range but ideally would start at the 15 age rating to permit a little more freedom when it come to expressing the horror genre. It will be structure like a short form version of American horror story with self contained episodes that can be set in different times and place allowing for a greater scope.

The pitch will be built around the theme of an old book with progressively darker pages the type face used will simulate and old fashioned style typewriter.

Target Audience

For this animation the age rating that has been chosen is 15 this will mean that the target audience for this will be 15 to 25 year old’s the 15 rating will not affect its impact as some of the biggest grossing film within the genre have had a lower age classification such as the sixth sense which was given a pg-13 and in the animated world demon slayer kimetsu no yaiba was give an age rating of a 12. This is an extremely stable genre as horror movies have been a stable of cinema since the 1960s and have not declined over the decades. It can be targeted to all genders as the split between male and female viewers it quite evenly split (58% Men and 42% Women.) With the target audience at 15 to 25s social media such as Tik Tok and Instagram will be used to promote it along with the traditional route of poster trailers and adverts. Strong YouTube channels will also be approached to help push views within the horror genre such as Dead Meat a channel which itself has 5.46 million subscribers at current count.

Narrative

The series will consist of multiple self contained episodes each exploring a different sub section or theme within the horror genre. The classic settings can by used such as Cornfield, Cemetery and medical facilities

Each setting will explore the individual elements of fear that are provided with environment such as Thanatophobia which fear of death any fear related to potential physical suffering, bodily harm, illness, actual death, or the afterlife is usually linked to a fear of death this is psychically linked to cemetery’s and place of worship as it is the places that human most associate with death itself and Tomophobia which is the fear of medical procedures linked to medical facilities. This will all be used along with the three fundamental fears of death (previously mentioned) Abandonment and failure.

And there are only five basic fears, out of which almost all of our other so-called fears are manufactured. These are:

  1. Extinction—the fear of annihilation, of ceasing to exist. This is a more fundamental way to express it than just “fear of death.” The idea of no longer being arouses a primary existential anxiety in all normal humans. Consider that panicky feeling you get when you look over the edge of a high building.
  2. Mutilation—the fear of losing any part of our precious bodily structure; the thought of having our body’s boundaries invaded, or of losing the integrity of any organ, body part, or natural function. Anxiety about animals, such as bugs, spiders, snakes, and other creepy things arises from fear of mutilation.
  3. Loss of Autonomy—the fear of being immobilized, paralyzed, restricted, enveloped, overwhelmed, entrapped, imprisoned, smothered, or otherwise controlled by circumstances beyond our control. In physical form, it’s commonly known as claustrophobia, but it also extends to our social interactions and relationships.
  4. Separation—the fear of abandonment, rejection, and loss of connectedness; of becoming a non-person—not wanted, respected, or valued by anyone else. The “silent treatment,” when imposed by a group, can have a devastating effect on its target.
  5. Ego-death—the fear of humiliation, shame, or any other mechanism of profound self-disapproval that threatens the loss of integrity of the self; the fear of the shattering or disintegration of one’s constructed sense of lovability, capability, and worthiness.

The pitch

The pitch experience was not my first time one pitching and two talking in front of people so I felt very comfortable delivering. I felt that i was engaging to the audience present and did my best to sell both myself and my project as describe in the brief we were issued. The only real issue i found with my pitch was the timing issue a feel I could have talked for a lot longer than we were allowed which would have made it easier to explain the themes and content.

Animation basics

Running

Running can be divided into four stages: initial contact, braking (absorption), midstance, and propulsion. Let’s imagine you are at that moment in your stride when both feet are off the floor (sometimes referred to as float phase).

A gait is a pattern of limb movements made during locomotion. Human and animal gaits are the various ways in which a human can move, either naturally or as a result of specialized training. Human gait is defined as bipedal, biphasic forward propulsion of the center of gravity of the human body, in which there are alternate sinuous movements of different segments of the body with least expenditure of energy. Different gait patterns are characterized by differences in limb-movement patterns, overall velocity, forces, kinetic and potential energy cycles, and changes in the contact with the ground.

THE BIOMECHANICS OF RUNNING: 3 COMMON TECHNIQUE FAULTS | The Motion Mechanic

Animal gait traits

One variable in gait is foot strike – how the foot contacts the ground, specifically which part of the foot first contacts the ground.

  • forefoot strike – toe-heel: ball of foot lands first
  • midfoot strike – heel and ball land simultaneously
  • heel strike – heel-toe: heel of foot lands, then plantar flexes to ball

In sprinting, gait typically features a forefoot strike, but the heel does not contact the ground.

Some researchers classify foot strike by the initial center of pressure; this is mostly applicable to shod running.

  • a rearfoot strike (heel strike) has the initial center of pressure in the rear one-third of shoe length;
  • a midfoot strike is in the middle third;
  • a forefoot strike is in the front third.

Foot strike varies to some degree between strides, and between individuals. It varies significantly and notably between walking and running

End of week 1:

With characters being created are generally though of as light a less impactful run cycle will have to be selected to represent the lack of weight.

line of action

Line of action is an imaginary line that describes the direction and motion of a character’s body and is the leading force of a his action. A good line of action improves character’s poses, makes the character look more dynamic, energetic and alive. The line of action can show us what is the main idea behind the pose

Jump animation

Typical characteristics of jumping include long legs, large leg muscles, and additional limb elements. Long legs increase the time and distance over which a jumping animal can push against the substrate, thus allowing more power and faster, farther jumps. Large leg muscles can generate greater force, resulting in improved jumping performance. In addition to elongated leg elements, many jumping animals have modified foot and ankle bones that are elongated and possess additional joints, effectively adding more segments to the limb and even more length.

The jumping process can be broken down into five phases:

  • Approach.
  • Take-off.
  • Flight, suspension, or airborne phase.
  • Landing.
  • Recovery, getaway.

Under advisement from lectures we i going to abandon the Funko pop style character model due to possible conflicts with intellectual property rights and did check there trademarks (as shown above) and it seems like it would have been ok but in better safe than sorry the model will be abandoned.
